How to Clean Those Lovable Plush Toys

Stuffed animals and dollies
can lead a hard life, if they're loved. Whether they sleep with you,
tag along to play dates or Day Care, play hide and seek in the back
yard, or just cuddle up by the TV sharing your snacks, they can really
get dirty. Even the ones we "grownups" have out for "show" will
eventually get dusty.
If you're collecting your animals as an
investment, by all means protect them, take good care of the swing
tags, and don't wash them.
But for the rest of us, who love on our plush pals, here are some suggestions on how to get them clean.
There
are symbols on the tush tag of many toys that tell you how to clean
that toy. They typically indicate if it can be washed, the temperature
for the wash water, if it can be bleached, and if it can be machine
dried.
If it can be machine washed, the best way we have found is
to put it in a pillow case and tie a loose knot in the end. Run it
through the washing machine on gentle cycle in cold water, with
detergent, but no bleach. We use dye-free and scent-free Tide. We then
place the stuffed animal on a large absorbent towel to dry.
Occasionally, there will be a need to pre-treat an area of soil, for
which we use Shout. Sometimes we find a plush lovey with just a little
light soil from being on a shelf. In that case, I usually hand wash it
with mild dishwashing liquid and let it air dry.
We do suggest that you wash any toy that you intend to allow a young child to play with.

Resolved Question: Poll: What do you think are the ten most important inventions/developments of the post World War II era?
An invention can mean anything from an every day household product to a major break through in science, medicine, etc. I'm looking for the inventions that mean the most to you personally. Here's my list: 1. Psychotropic medications (1950's - present); without these miracles of chemistry thousands of people with severe and persistent mental illness would be unable to live productive and fulfilling lives. 2. Automotive Fuel Injection (1970's - 1980's); before fuel injection starting your car could be an ordeal if the carburetor wasn't adjusted just right or it was simply a cold day. 3. The Internet (1990's); very few of us on this site could live without it. I use it for everything from shopping to socializing to vacation planning to wasting time on rainy days :) 4. Laptop Computers (1990's); I think a computer under 10 lbs you can take anywhere speaks for itself. 5. Linux Operating Systems (late 1980's - present); what do you do when MAC is too expensive, you hate Windows and you don't do much other than surf the web and use the office software? You grab an old laptop or desktop, wipe the hard drive and load up a good old open source OS that needs little maintenance. 6. Seatbelts (1950's); originally one of the first safety devices used in NASCAR stock cars. This simple strip of heavy duty woven nylon attached to a buckle has proven to be one of the most effective auto safety devices ever, if you wear yours, that is. 7. WD-40 (late 1950's); this accidental discovery is a fantastic and virtually mess free lubricant. I've also found that it makes a really good solvent for removing everything from tree sap to sticky insulation foam. 8. Digital Cameras (1990's - present); digital photography made sharing snap shots instantaneous. 9. Surgical Tape (2000's); Most surgeons these days use specially designed high strength tape to seal surgical wounds. Instead of having stitches pulled out one by one, a long seam of tape is removed in seconds. I had a surgery that involved a 14 inch incision across my chest; removing the tape was much more pleasant than having stitches ripped out! 10. Engineered Wood Products (1946>); building a house was more expensive and labor intensive before the invention and perfection of plywood, particle board, pre-engineered trusses and their kin.

Some of my favorite entrance theme songs from old ECW are: "Enter Sandman" by Metallica (They may demand too much money if someone asks to borrow their songs--think ECW One Night Stand 2005--but still, I dare say it's the number 1 entrance theme song in professional wrestling history. Watch Sandman's entrance at One Night Stand 2005 on youtube and you'll understand why. Also, Sandman was the first one to use "Enter Sandman" as his theme song. Go to Google and type the phrase "The Real Owner Of Enter Sandman" and you'll get a link to a web page that mentions when Sandman used the above song for the first time.) "Natural Born Killaz" by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube (play the whole f*#kin' song) "Paradise City" by Guns N' Roses "Big Balls" by AC/DC These are just some of my favorite entrance theme songs from old ECW.
